Civil Engineer-In-Training (EIT)

Full time, in office
Join GWES’s Roswell office and help support the continued growth of our Metro Atlanta presence. The selected candidate will support the planning and design of municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects. This position provides opportunities to participate in multiple phases of project delivery, including planning, design, permitting, bidding, and construction support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review development and utility plans for compliance with municipal and state standards associated with stormwater.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater systems. Experience using multiple software platforms is preferred but not required (i.e., Hydraflow, HEC-RAS, SWMM, ICPR).
- Assist in the planning and design of municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.
- Conduct field investigations for environmental impacts associated with civil infrastructure projects.
- Conduct economic analyses for civil infrastructure projects to assess feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare construction drawings, technical specifications, and supporting documents.
- Ensure timely and effective project execution to meet client needs.

Transportation Engineer-In-Training (EIT)
Position Available in Brunswick, GA
Full time, in office
Join our Brunswick team and support transportation, traffic, roadway, stormwater, and pedestrian-infrastructure projects throughout coastal Georgia and the surrounding region. Assignments may include traffic studies, roadway and intersection improvements, resurfacing, sidewalks, streetscapes, permitting, construction-plan preparation, and construction support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review development and utility plans for compliance with municipal and state standards.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater systems and drainage infrastructure.
- Assist with planning and design of local roadways, resurfacing projects, and minor traffic improvements.
- Support permitting, construction plan development, and report preparation.

Lead municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects from initial planning and design through permitting, bidding, and construction. The role includes managing project scopes, budgets, schedules, and internal resources; coordinating with clients and regulatory agencies; providing technical leadership; and supporting business development and strategic growth efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design and construction of municipal infrastructure projects, including:
- Water distribution systems
- Wastewater collection and treatment systems
- Stormwater management and conveyance systems
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, utility departments, and local governments
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Prepare technical documents, construction drawings, reports, cost estimates, and permit packages
- Provide construction-phase support, including submittal reviews and site visits
- Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and internal resources
- Mentor junior engineers and support staff to help grow the next generation of engineering talent

Position available in Roswell, GA
Full time, in office
Lead roadway, traffic, pedestrian, and transportation infrastructure projects from initial planning and analysis through design, permitting, bidding, and construction. This senior-level position includes managing project scopes, budgets, schedules, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams; coordinating with clients, GDOT, municipalities, and other agencies; providing technical leadership and staff mentorship; and supporting business development and strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the planning, design, and construction of transportation infrastructure projects, including:
- Roadway widening and reconstruction
- Intersection improvements and traffic safety projects
- Sidewalks, multi-use paths, and streetscape improvements
- Traffic control, signing, and pavement marking plans
- Serve as Engineer of Record and provide technical oversight for transportation designs
- Coordinate with GDOT, local governments, and other regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with applicable standards and permitting requirements
- Prepare and review technical reports, construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and permit submittals
- Provide construction-phase services, including submittal reviews, responses to RFIs, and occasional site visits
- Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and internal resources to ensure successful project delivery
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers
- Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation, client relationships, and strategic growth initiatives
- Leverage experience in water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure to support integrated, multi-discipline transportation projects (a strong plus)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Georgia (required)
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering design and project management
- Strong working knowledge of GDOT standards, local agency requirements, and Georgia-specific permitting processes
- Demonstrated experience leading projects, coordinating teams, and managing client relationships
- Proficiency with transportation design tools and software (e.g., MicroStation, OpenRoads, Civil 3D, traffic analysis tools)
- Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally for meetings or site visits as needed
- Additional experience in water, wastewater, and/or stormwater infrastructure design is a significant plus
